Bhphotovideo.com sold a $1500 tamron lens advertised as coming with a $300 rebate, but the rebate had already been used.
Tamron lens requires a portion of the box with serial number to be cut out and sent in for the rebate. as i was preparing the rebate form within the required period to send in the rebate, i found the portion of the box required sent in had ALREADY been cut out from the box.
the serial number proof from the box had not just been removed, but cut out by machine, clean and with a die cut punch, suggesting it was done not by an individual but somewhere between the manufacturer’s possession and bhphoto’s possession, and professionally cut out.
i informed bhphoto of the missing portion of the box, invalidating the rebate which had been advertised as part of their sale, and they refused to provide information for me to receive my rebate, to refund me for the missing rebate, or accept a refund for the lens because it was not valid for the rebate they advertised.
i have notified my bank of the apparently fraudulent situation, and will contact tamron lenses as well. i would warn anyone dealing with bhphotovideo.com, or b&hphoto as they are called, of apparent fraud with items they purchase. this was a new, unused item, advertised as eligible for rebate, but missing part of the actual box required for the rebate…it having been removed.
