Georgetown University Hospital Department of Orthopaedics

This review is just speaking to the office of the Foot and Hand Clinic, not the doctors, but let me tell you an office plays a big part in the care you receive, or don’t receive as the case is here.  The people working in this office do not care about their patients’ well-being.

I lost an important part to the walking boot they gave me for a fracture.  Not smart and my fault, but it happened.  I called first thing last Monday morning to try to get a replacement — straight to voicemail with a promise to call back in 24 hours.

I tried various other routes to get in touch with someone who could help and was rebuffed repeatedly — they said I had to wait 24 – 48 hours for someone to return my call.

One person said I could try just showing up, but that it was no guarantee someone would actually help me.  Well, Tuesday and Wednesday pass and I don’t get any call back and still can’t reach anyone of use.  Was SOL for the Thanksgiving break.

Called first thing again the next Monday (today), again straight to voicemail.  Called and spoke with the receptionist again in the afternoon, and again she said she couldn’t help me.

Finally I spoke with the office manager, who connected me with the orthotics/device person, who told me they couldn’t help me and I would have to order from their supplier directly.

WELL THANKS THAT INFORMATION WOULD HAVE BEEN A LITTLE MORE HELPFUL LAST WEEK!  My ankle is killing me, and I still won’t have the ($10) part until this coming Wednesday at the earliest.

K Street Medical Group

I would avoid the K Street Medical Group/Workman’s Clinic at all costs. The office is dingy and understaffed. The reception is incompetent and absurdly rude. Expect to incur a greater headache after most interactions here.

Hotel RL Washington DC

Our first time in DC and we were extremely disappointed by our hotel.  When we arrived the employee told us that one of the rooms was out of order and all they had was a queen kitchenette with a pull out sofa bed. Mind you we have four in our party.

I told him that was not going to be very comfortable for the four of us he said he could give us breakfast coupons and comp the parking.  We agreed to this.

When we checked out the employee working gave us our bill.  We were charged for parking. When I let the employee know she looked at me like I was making it up and stated they never do it.  I was extremely frustrated as I had to let her know that we were paying over $225 a night and had to spend the night

on the sofa bed so that is probably why he comped us that.  It took 45 mins waiting for the employee talking to other employees and then someone else said he would credit us the amount but reminded me once again that they never do that. Basically stating that I was not telling the truth.  I will never stay at another Hotel RL!

Hotel Baron

They’re located in a nice part of D.C. very close to the restaurant and bar scene.  I had 2 problems with the hotel service.  1,  my luggage was lost on my flight and it was to be delivered to the hotel.  When my luggage arrived,  I was not notified by the front desk.

Maybe the lady would’ve called me if she wasn’t too busy yapping on the phone on a personal call.  When I went to get my bag she said “It just got here 30 mins ago.”  30 MINS AGO??!!?!

Next they tried to charge my card $150 saying that I was smoking in my room.  LOL…I am.  If I’m in a non-smoking room then I’m not gonna smoke in there.  I smoked outside and took half a cigar back to my room and they accused me of smoking in the room.

Needless to say that charge didn’t stick.  They need mini fridges and/or at least a microwave in the room.

DARCARS Toyota Silver Spring

STAY AWAY!  This place is a criminal enterprise.  We are from New York.  My son went to school at the Univ. of Md.  We bought him a used car here in New York and had purchased four new tires for safety.

During his time in Maryland, my son only put on 11,000 miles of usage.  My son is rather naïve.  He noticed he had a tire leak.  He brought the car in to Darcars and the sleazy salesman told him into he needed four new tires.

Yes! Four new tires after only 11,000 miles of wear.  My son obediently agreed.  The purchase of the new tires was in the Toyota National Database since all our automobile maintenance is done with Toyota dealers.

So, my purchase is a proven fact.  I found out about this a couple of months later.  I was outraged.  I called Darcars and told them I wanted a refund for the three tires he was oversold.  This is when the lies started.  I first spoke to Kate.

Now Kate is an exceptionally good liar.  She told me that mileage is not the only wear that tires endure.  They can have “dry rot” and “fatigue.”  She was such a good liar I believed her.  But just out of curiosity, I called my local New York dealer.

The service manager had actually worked for Goodyear Tire for  and considered himself an authority on tires.  He said, “No way.”  You will not get “dry rot” in a climate like New York or Maryland with 11,000 miles.  Maybe in a hot environment like Arizona, but not here.  I sent an email to Darcars telling them this.

No one ever called my local dealer to dispute what he said.  I did receive a call from Darcars.  This time it was from Kim.  Unlike, Kate, Kim is dumb as a rock.  All talk about “dry rot” is now ignored.  Instead, the new story Kim tells me is that my son “requested” four new tires.

She is such a bad liar, she couldn’t lie straight in bed.  My son did not request any tires.  In addition, even if he did, since the tires were good an “honest” mechanic would tell him it was unnecessary.  An “honest” mechanic would have checked the mileage on the Toyota National database.  So don’t expect any “honesty” at Darcars.

Hilton Garden Inn Arlington Courthouse Plaza

I spent more than $1500 on hotel related events, and most went well.  The small thing that did not soured the entire experience for me.  I asked the front desk the day before to have housekeeping come before 9:30 am the morning of the wedding since my room was the bridal prep room.

The front desk apparently did not tell housekeeping, in spite of my going to the front desk myself and watching the rep write everything down.  I had to clean the toilets, the sinks, empty the garbages, change the towels, all myself to get ready for the bridal party.

Housekeeping showed up at 1:15pm.  When I complained the next day to the front desk, Mr Carmichael called me a liar to my face in front of my wedding guests, who had seen the whole thing the day before and knew I was right.

On the counter was the posted hotel guarantee, which read “We guarantee to do whatever it takes to ensure you’re satisfied, or you don’t pay. You can count on us.  GUARANTEED.”

I reported this entire episode in writing to the general manager, Mr. David Hales, who seems to spend lots of time refuting negative reviews on social media, but not making things right.  I took my complaint for the way I was treated, and the lapse by the front desk, all the way up to Corporate, but was stonewalled with platitudes.

I just wanted an acknowledgment of their dropping the ball, and an apology for the appalling behavior by Mr. Carmichael.  Life is TOO SHORT.  I will never stay at a Hilton property again.

Sheraton Pentagon City Hotel

Bed Bugs, Terrible Customer Service & No Redress I stayed at the Sheraton last week and woke up Friday morning with red bumps (bites) all over my body, especially feet, ankles, and shoulders. I called down to the office immediately and was told someone would be up to check the room.

When I checked out a few hours later, there was no report-back. I left my contact information and was told they would follow-up with me on the results.

After not receiving any call, I called the hotel on Saturday afternoon. They told me the pest control company would inspect the room Monday and I would receive a call with the results that day. Again, no call Monday.

On Tuesday I left a message with a manager, Memett. About an hour later I receive a call from the hotel’s insurance company regarding a claim that the hotel filed. The insurance agent (?) told me the inspection came out “negative” but kept mixing up which day the inspection happened; was it Friday?

Monday? He finally settled on Monday. He said I could not see the report from the “independent” pest control company because it was an “internal document”, but that he would email me regarding the claim.

(This was yesterday; spoke with him again on the phone today and still no email.) He then suggested that perhaps the bed bugs came from me even though I had never experienced this before and the bites were on me after waking up in the hotel bed.

He also told me that because the hotel filed a claim about this, anytime I called to speak with someone at the Sheraton I would only receive a call back from him.Today I went to my doctor’s office and they confirmed that the bites are consistent with bed bug bites.

I am terrified that they came home in my luggage and will infest my home and workplace. I have still heard NOTHING from the hotel management despite giving them AMPLE opportunity to address my concerns.

I worked in customer service for  and remedying a mishap is always an opportunity to leave the customer feeling even better about the company than before they arrived. Instead,

I only had hotel staff ask me “how are you feeling?”. This formulaic response is absolutely not a substitute for treating your customers with dignity and taking responsibility for your actions.

The only staff who treated me with respect were Evelyn and (possibly) Paula (not sure if that was her name). Evelyn tried her best, but clearly this hotel has a major problem with customer service, communication, and apparently, bed bugs!

Chop Chop Movers

Scam Scam Company… I was referred to Chop Chop Movers by someone who had used their services a. When I called Chop Chop Movers, I spoke to a woman who gave me a verbal quoted price of $225 for a Studio apartment move with $80 for each hour over the 3 hour minimum.

She insisted that she would “email” me the quote before the scheduled move which was scheduled for the next day.

When the movers arrived the next day, they did not discuss the quote, they just proceeded to assess the contents of the move. The 2 movers were very polite and courteous, but came to the move very ill-equipped for an apartment move for services that were pay by the hour.

That was the first red flag. They had only one hand truck, no furniture dollies and they were aware that we had over 10-15 boxes a bed, desk and chairs, etc.

This was strategic on the part of Chop Chop Movers because it exhausted the 3 hours base move time dramatically because it took them triple the time it would have taken men who had enough equipment to move goods. We even had to jump in to help the movers because of the amount of time it was taking them to load and unload the truck was ridiculous.

During this process of helping the movers, we noticed their clipboard that had a quoted price of $385 for 3 hours with $80 for every additional hour!!!! The verbal quoted price had ballooned an additional $160 overnight.

By this point, almost all of our things were on their truck. After the move, which took 4 hours, was completed, we ended up paying Chop Chop Movers $685, ($485 + $100 tip for each mover) which is outrageous given the fact that this was a studio apartment.

The day after the move, we got an email from Chop Chop Movers with a quote of $225 for 3 hour move. We also noticed that one of the movers had broken one of the knobs off of one of our bedside tables and put the broken piece inside of the drawer and did not mention that it was broken.

I would suggest that you rent a truck from U-Haul, get enough equipment for the move and hire movers standing on the street corner before you use Chop Chop Movers!
